Clues and club movements point towards midfielders such as Vitinha or Joao Neves from Paris Saint-Germain. The latter, in particular, represented by Jorge Mendes (also agent for Mourinho, whose signing will cost 15 million), is favored by the president. An offer exceeding his market value, estimated at 140 million euros (similar to Vitinha's valuation), is being prepared.
Florentino Pérez's strategy focuses on a Portuguese midfielder, ruling out another attacker given the already strong offensive lineup featuring players like Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Jr., Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, and the return of Endrick and Nico Paz. The main obstacle to signing Neves is convincing PSG and Luis Enrique, which might require the player's own intervention.
These moves would materialize after Tuesday's elections, should Florentino Pérez be re-elected. Meanwhile, Enrique Riquelme is gaining support, including figures like Vicente del Bosque, Raúl González Blanco, Fernando Hierro, and Iker Casillas, all of whom have had complex histories with the club.
Jürgen Klopp is emerging as Riquelme's potential 'Figo effect'. After an initial rejection, a second approach, spurred by Raúl's appointment as sporting director, seems to have met a more receptive attitude from the German coach. The announcement of Klopp could be decisive for Riquelme, much like Figo's signing was for Florentino Pérez in 2000.
Both candidates are playing an electoral chess game. Florentino Pérez will conclude his campaign this Saturday, with no final announcement ruled out. Riquelme is confident of delivering a decisive blow with the potential confirmation of Klopp, hoping to mobilize members to vote for change.
