The native of Granada, based in Seville, was recognized for his outstanding work in promoting and enhancing Seville's gastronomy through his publications about local bars and restaurants. The award ceremony brought together prominent figures from the city's gastronomic, business, and institutional sectors.
“"I receive this award with all the enthusiasm in the world. For me, it represents a very special recognition of the work carried out during 2025, a key year in which Guía Sevillana saw the light, a project that aims to become a gastronomic reference guide in Seville, highlighting our bars, restaurants, products, and professionals."
The Fogones de Sevilla Awards, organized by the Asociación de Gourmets de Sevilla, have a strong charitable focus. This year, the proceeds will benefit the Missionaries of the Divine Word, who manage the Parroquia de Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Seville's La Plata neighborhood. The invited entity was the Royal and Illustrious College of Physicians of Seville, and the event was hosted by Canal Sur journalist, Álvaro Moreno de la Santa.
The jury particularly valued Aguayo Castillo's work during 2025 with the launch of Guía Sevillana, a project aiming to become a gastronomic benchmark in the city, based on product knowledge, respect for the hospitality profession, and Seville's cultural identity. In addition to his social media work, Juan Antonio Aguayo recently published his first book, La guía sevillana del buen comer, which has already become a significant gastronomic reference in the city.
In this 11th edition, other notable professionals and entities in the sector were also recognized, including Javier Velázquez Fernández (Dining Room Staff), Bodegas Barbadillo (González Byass Award), Grupo Barrabar’s (Revelation Establishment), Restaurante Hoyo 16 del RC Pineda (Gastronomic Experience), and Jesús Becerra Gómez, owner of Becerrita, who received the Gourmets de Sevilla Award for his professional career.
