Two young designers, Ana Pérez and Cristina Guerrero, have been honored in the twelfth edition of the IKEA Seville flamenco fashion contest, standing out for their creations made from duvet covers and curtains.
Creativity in flamenco fashion remains a fundamental pillar, allowing for constant reinterpretations of the most internationally recognized regional costume. The combination of colors, prints, textures, and the interplay of bodices and ruffles, transform the flamenco dress into a living expression of fashion.
Seeking to foster this innovative vision, IKEA Seville has celebrated the XII edition of its flamenco fashion contest, in collaboration with the Escuela Superior Sevilla de Moda. This initiative not only promotes emerging talent but also challenges young designers to give a second life to materials from the Swedish store.
“
"In other times, our ancestors, lacking fabrics for festivities in Andalucía, resorted to ingenuity to make their dresses; today, we present the modern version of that essence."
The winning proposals by Ana Pérez Pérez and Cristina Guerrero Rodrigo have stood out for their originality. A dress made from duvet covers and another outfit crafted from curtains demonstrate how everyday household items can be transformed into unique pieces of high flamenco fashion.

"These proposals are a statement of intent about the future of fashion, reminding us that true elegance today lies in quality and the ability to transform domestic textiles into haute couture flamenco collections."
Sagrario Escribano, director of IKEA Seville, emphasized the importance of this project for the company. She considers it one of the most special initiatives, allowing them to connect with Andalusian culture from a current and sustainable perspective, and to support young talents who, edition after edition, surprise with their capacity for innovation.
