For almost three decades, Gualchos has celebrated the Tourist Day, a festival organized by the City Council and the 'Cueva de la Virgen' Neighbors Association. This event welcomes foreign residents, mainly English, Irish, and Danish, who choose the municipality for their stays, as well as the locals who return to maintain their roots.
The celebration will begin at 1:00 PM in the Plaza de la Constitución with reunions, tapas, and rice tasting, accompanied by the 'La Pepa' Charanga band and surprise raffles. In the afternoon, the Parque de la Era will host children's activities including inflatable castles and a foam party. The evening will feature performances by the group Indis-Cretos, local DJs, and La Banda del Sótano. Proceeds will go to charity.
Before the Tourist Festival, on August 6 and 7, the traditional San Cayetano pilgrimage will take place in Jolúcar. On August 6 at 9:00 PM, there will be a mass and popular festival with DJ Tutubio and Juan Loop. On August 7, residents from the Costa Tropical will pilgrimage to the village to make offerings to the patron saint.
Jolúcar, which in the 1960s was one of the most populated centers of Gualchos with over 600 inhabitants, experienced a significant rural exodus. Currently, the village, located 585 meters above sea level, preserves its 18th-century hermitage where San Cayetano is honored.
