The agreement to suspend the commercial and civil lawsuits between José María del Nido Benavente and Sevilla FC, along with its management (including Del Nido Carrasco, José Castro, and Sevillistas de Nervión), has been approved and notified by the court. This measure temporarily halts the litigation, giving greater validity to the 2022 pact and previous precautionary measures.
The suspension of the trials, originally scheduled for June 29 and 30, does not alter the club's current dynamics. Social media has spread misinformation about the scope of this agreement, but the reality is that the situation persists, reinforcing the shareholder pact. The plaintiff, Del Nido Benavente, has paused their challenge.
“"The pact continues its course. Nothing has changed, the pending cases have simply been suspended."
Meanwhile, the Sevilla FC board, including Del Nido Carrasco and Castro, accepts the precautionary measures issued by investigating court number 10. These measures prohibit the president and vice-president from aligning their votes to deny the main shareholder voting rights, a situation that has been in place since 2024 after a shift in shareholding.
The parties can request the reopening of the proceedings at any time, although the law sets a maximum of 60 days for the suspension. A reopening would entail a new court date, potentially delaying the trial until 2027 or 2028 due to the backlog of cases in the courts.
The improved relations between Del Nido Benavente and the board's representatives in recent months suggest a possible de-escalation of judicial tension. Some interpret these moves as a prelude to an imminent sale of the club, although it could also signify a reorganization of powers regarding board representation.
