The town of Dos Hermanas has experienced a 2.1% decrease in unemployment compared to the previous month, translating to 213 fewer people on the unemployment lists. This reduction brings the total number of unemployed to 9,964, a figure not seen since May 2008, just before the onset of the Great Recession.
In year-on-year terms, the improvement is even more significant, with an 11.7% drop. Over the past year, the number of unemployed has decreased by 1,317 people, from 11,263 in June 2025 to the current 9,964. This reduction surpasses the provincial average for Sevilla, which stands at 9%.
The City Council highlighted that this June figure is the best recorded for this month since 2007. However, it noted that the decrease has been uneven, disproportionately affecting women, who constitute 65% of the total unemployed in the town, compared to 35% of men.
Nationally, employment continues to show a favorable trend. In the first six months of the year, 621,925 new affiliates have been added to Social Security. June has been one of the best months in the historical series for job creation, surpassed only by 2005 and 2021. The Minister of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migrations, Elma Saiz, stated that the Spanish labor market maintains a more favorable dynamism than that of the main European economies.
Since the implementation of the labor reform, Spain has 2.6 million more employed individuals, and temporary employment has fallen to 12.3%, compared to 31.5% in June 2008.
In the province of Sevilla, unemployment decreased by 1,835 people in June, reaching its best record since 2021. The total number of unemployed stands at 133,003, the lowest figure since June 2008. Social Security affiliation in the province remains above 850,000 contributors.
