Cristina Peláez, who served as a councilor in the Seville City Council for seven years, has submitted her resignation to take on a new role as a deputy in the Parliament of Andalusia. In her farewell, Peláez expressed gratitude for the experience gained and the collaboration received during her term.
During a press conference, accompanied by members of her group, Peláez stated: "I assume the seat within the Vox Parliamentary Group with responsibility, pride, and immense enthusiasm for this new chapter opening for Andalusia." She highlighted the work done since 2019 and thanked her party, municipal officials, and Sevillian social groups for their support.

Peláez also acknowledged the work of the media, the trust of her party, and the collaboration of the members of the Vox Municipal Group. She also extended thanks to council members from all political parties, including Mayor José Luis Sanz and the two previous mayors, with whom she shared "good and bad moments in defending the interests of Sevillians."
The outgoing councilor particularly valued the contribution of district coordinators and representatives, describing them as "our eyes and ears in Seville's neighborhoods," and praised the professionalism of the municipal civil servants. She also thanked business, social, neighborhood, and cultural groups, and dedicated words to her family.
Peláez, whose resignation will be effective at Friday's extraordinary plenary session, expressed pride in being part of Vox's first municipal group in the Seville City Council, noting its evolution from "irrelevance to relevance" and its learning process to be "useful to Sevillians from the opposition."
As the replacement for the municipal group's spokesperson, Gonzalo García de Polavieja, who already served as deputy spokesperson, will take on the role. Peláez expressed her confidence in him, highlighting his knowledge, attitude, and experience to lead the group's future.
Peláez's departure also means the incorporation of Javier Navarro as a new councilor. Peláez emphasized Navarro's organizational experience as president of Vox Seville and his young, dynamic profile for the municipal corporation.
