The bullfighter, who was transferred to the hospital after emergency surgery in the bullring's infirmary, is in stable and afebrile condition. However, sources close to him have indicated that the matador is experiencing considerable pain as the effects of the painkillers wear off.
The goring, described as 'very serious' in the official report issued by surgeon Octavio Mulet, perforated the matador's rectum. The report detailed a horn wound in the posterior anal margin, with a trajectory of approximately 10 centimeters, partially damaging the anal sphincter muscles and causing a 1.5-centimeter perforation in the posterior wall of the rectum.
The incident occurred during the fight with the fourth bull of the afternoon, an animal from Matilla. The bull charged the bullfighter without him being able to react in time with the cape, resulting in a fall and the subsequent goring below the gluteus. The severity of the injury was evident from the bullfighter's gestures of pain, as he was unable to get up and was immediately assisted.
Although initial rumors suggested a minor mishap, the medical report, issued after 9:30 PM, confirmed the seriousness of the injuries. The bullfighter had a notable performance in the April cycle, cutting an ear from the first bull and making a significant impact on his second afternoon, where he was carried out on shoulders despite not winning any trophies.
Surgeon Octavio Mulet explained the complexity of the affected area on the night of the incident, indicating that the intervention required sphincter repair, making it more complicated. It is estimated that recovery could take at least ten days before more concrete timelines can be established.
