The Civil Guard has confirmed the arrest of a Cantillana resident, accused of assaulting the flatmate of a Moroccan citizen, who had previously been identified as responsible for the theft of a mobile phone. This event led to a series of protests and violent incidents in the Sevillian municipality.
Public order disturbances began after the mobile phone theft, prompting the deployment of Benemérita patrols in the area. Incidents quickly escalated after a young man of Maghrebi origin allegedly stole the device from a person of Roma ethnicity, generating significant tension within the community.
In response to the situation, approximately 50 people gathered in front of the local medical clinic, where the alleged thief had sought refuge to avoid the assembled crowd. Concurrently, a former flatmate of the alleged thief, also of Maghrebi origin, suffered a violent assault. The arrest of the alleged assailant occurred shortly before 5:00 PM, according to sources from the armed institution.
Eyewitnesses reported that between five and six individuals, traveling in two vehicles, accosted and attacked the victim. The injuries sustained required his transfer to Virgen Macarena Hospital in Seville for specialized medical attention.

The Cantillana City Council has issued an official statement "firmly condemning" any criminal act that disrupts the coexistence and tranquility of its citizens. Furthermore, it has announced the convening of a Local Security Council to strengthen coordination among administrations and restore normalcy.
