A DANA will bring instability to Andalusia this Sunday with showers and storms, activating yellow alerts for wind and probability of precipitation in regions of Jaén and Granada.

After weeks of summer heat, Andalusia is preparing for a change in weather this Sunday. The arrival of an Isolated High-Level Depression (DANA) or cold drop will bring instability, marked by showers and thunderstorms, especially in the provinces of Jaén and Granada, where yellow alerts have been activated.
European meteorological models confirm the probability of precipitation in the Andalusian territory over the weekend. Intermittent showers are expected in Málaga and Granada during Sunday morning, extending towards Córdoba and the eastern half in the afternoon. These rains could be locally heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms.
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued yellow alerts for the regions of Sierra de Cazorla and Segura, Montes, and the capital of Jaén, as well as for Guadix and Baza in Granada. These alerts will be in effect from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, also warning of strong wind gusts associated with the storms.
Accumulations of up to 15 liters per square meter are forecast in the areas under alert and in the Sierra Nevada of Granada and Almería. In the rest of the community, accumulations will be less, below 5 liters. The provinces of Seville and Huelva will not be affected by these precipitations.
The instability associated with the DANA will begin to dissipate on Monday, remaining confined to mountainous areas in northern Huelva, Sierra Morena in Seville, and Sierra de Cazorla. Regarding temperatures, a notable drop is expected in the western third, with highs of 31 degrees Celsius in Seville and lower values in Cádiz (24 degrees) and Huelva (26 degrees).
