The autonomous community of Andalucía achieved a historic milestone in April, surpassing 3.6 million Social Security affiliates for the first time, driven by the strong performance of the services sector.

The number of contributors in Andalucía reached 3,602,282 during April, setting a new record for the second consecutive month. This increase is due to the addition of 43,312 new affiliates, a significant figure, although slightly lower than that recorded in March and the same month last year.
The hospitality sector, which includes accommodation services, was the main driver of this growth, generating 23,828 new jobs, representing 55% of the total. Other sectors with notable momentum included construction (+3,679), administrative activities and auxiliary services (+3,300), health activities and social services (+2,653), and artistic, sports, and entertainment activities (+1,852).
Regarding unemployment, Andalucía registered a decrease of 22,393 people on unemployment lists, bringing the total figure to 557,245, the lowest level since May 2008. This decrease is the largest among all autonomous communities, accounting for 35% of the national reduction. All Andalusian provinces experienced drops, with Seville, Málaga, and Granada showing the strongest performance.
By province, Málaga led the increase in affiliates with 15,044 new contributors, followed by Huelva with 14,062 and Cádiz with 10,647. Conversely, Jaén (-5,321) and Córdoba (-1,499) experienced declines due to the end of the olive harvest season. Youth unemployment (under 25) saw a significant drop of 10.45% in one month.
Annually, Andalucía has created 80,480 jobs in the last year, and the number of unemployed has decreased by 61,858, the largest drop since 2023. The region reduces unemployment more consistently than the national average, although the pace of job creation is slightly lower.
