Despite losing 13,887 Social Security affiliates in Andalucía during June, the region's labor market shows remarkable strength. This decrease is significantly less than last year's, when 34,206 contributors were lost. The reduced impact is attributed to less intense cuts in sectors like agriculture and education compared to prior years.
Sectors such as hospitality (+9,581 affiliates), administrative activities (+4,106), health and social services (+3,928), commerce (+3,376), and construction (+2,474) have acted as compensatory factors, boosting employment in the region. The decline in affiliation in Andalucía contrasts with the national increase of 128,533 people, marking a new employment record in Spain.
In terms of unemployment, the region has seen a decrease of 11,597 people, the largest for a June month since 2021. This figure accounts for 40% of the total national unemployment drop. The services sector accounts for 80% of this reduction, while agriculture experiences a minimal increase in unemployment. Unemployment has also decreased in industry, the group without previous employment, and construction.
By province, Málaga (+9,917) and Cádiz (+7,402) stand out for their increases in affiliation, linked to the tourist season. Huelva, on the other hand, experienced a sharp decline (-21,093), influenced by the end of the strawberry campaign. Regarding unemployment, all Andalusian provinces show reductions, with notable decreases in Cádiz (3,933) and Málaga (3,123).
Currently, Andalucía has 3,605,924 contributors and 536,523 unemployed individuals, the lowest unemployment figure since January 2008. Annual job creation is approaching 100,000 positions, and unemployment has fallen by 62,367 people over the past year, marking the best annual performance for a June month since 2022 and 2023, respectively.
