Temperatures across southern Spain are expected to soar between five and ten degrees Celsius above the seasonal average in the coming days. This extreme weather shift will directly impact popular hotspots along the Costa del Sol and inland Andalucía as the week progresses.
In Sevilla, the mercury is forecast to hit 36°C in the shade during the Feria de Abril, while the Guadalquivir valley region could bake in 35°C heat.

A DANA (isolated high-altitude depression) is expected to form over the mainland, bringing intense storms, lightning, and hail. Crucially, the arrival of these storms will coincide with a thick cloud of calima currently moving up from the Canary Islands. This suspended Saharan dust will mix with the precipitation to create 'mud-rain', commonly known as 'blood-rain', notorious for coating surfaces across the region.
Friday is expected to be the most unstable day, with heavy downpours and lightning strikes highly likely across Andalucía, particularly in the eastern mountain ranges. The stormy conditions will also sweep across Extremadura and Castilla y León before hitting the Comunidad de Madrid by Saturday. This effectively marks the official start of the storm season in Spain.
