This project, part of the Provincial Plans for Works and Services, aims to boost sports participation among residents and revitalize this rural area, which is affected by depopulation.
The facility, which had fallen into disuse and was practically abandoned, has undergone extensive improvements and refurbishment. The president of the Provincial Council of Granada, Francis Rodríguez, accompanied by the mayor of La Puebla de Don Fadrique, Jesús Fernández, and the district mayor, Albina Mateos, highlighted the significance of the intervention.
Rodríguez noted that Almaciles, despite being the most remote district from the provincial capital, will now have a top-tier sports facility, emphasizing that collaborative work between administrations ensures equal opportunities for all provincial residents.
For his part, Mayor Jesús Fernández reaffirmed the City Council's commitment to Almaciles, highlighting the substantial investment made to enable the enjoyment of these facilities and promote sports and physical activity.
District Mayor Albina Mateos expressed her joy at the project's completion, calling it a "dream come true." She also stated that the president's visit was a "pride" for everyone and that the court is "very important" for Almaciles, as it will attract more people to an area affected by depopulation, serving as an additional incentive.
