The City Council of Alcalá de los Gazules has presented its event calendar for the summer of 2026, featuring a diverse offering of culture, festivals, sports, and citizen participation. This program holds special significance as it coincides with the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the town being granted City status, a milestone aimed at highlighting its history and traditions.
The distinction as the Most Magical Town in Andalusia, awarded by the Red Pueblos Mágicos de España, adds further appeal to visiting this Cadiz municipality, known for its natural surroundings near beaches and its significant historical legacy. The town is also set to host the Alejandro Sanz Experience at Casa Diañez and features a dinosaur park at the Mirador de la Covacha.
The program kicks off in June with cultural events such as the recognition of democracy's mayors and a historical reenactment of the City Title. Festivities include the traditional San Juan Bonfires in Plaza Alta, and citizen participation events like the Alkalat City Awards. The month will also feature LGTBIQ+ activities and a sports marathon.
July will be marked by sports activities like aquagym and swimming courses, alongside a futsal tournament and a domino championship. Youth will enjoy concerts and a choreography contest, while children and families will have access to a municipal playroom and workshops. Culture will be represented with a book presentation and film screenings.
August will host the AlKalat Music Festival, with days dedicated to poetry, classical music, flamenco, and performances by artists such as Paco Candela, El Farru, Astola, and Tamara. The month will also include a vaquera dressage competition and the traditional Feria de Alcalá de los Gazules towards the end of the month.
