The municipal company Turismo de Ronda, S. A. has presented a positive management balance, highlighting exponential growth since 2019. Revenue has quadrupled, reaching 1.6 million euros in 2025, which has strengthened its investment capacity. The Councilor for Tourism, Ángel Martínez, who is responsible for the company, described the previous model as "deficient, obsolete, and underutilized," and summarized recent years with "more activity, more employment, and new tourist offerings for Ronda."
After the impact of the pandemic in 2019 and 2020, revenue has seen a steady increase: 410,000 euros in 2021, 774,000 in 2022, 909,000 in 2023, 1,052,000 in 2024, and 1,600,000 euros in 2025. Ángel Martínez emphasized that "this company is municipal and, therefore, belongs to all the people of Ronda," highlighting actions such as monument maintenance, street beautification with urban art, artistic lighting, and the organization of free concerts and activities.
The incorporation of the first phase of the Camino del Desfiladero del Tajo into the tourist offering in 2025 marked a significant "leap." The change in model has transformed the company from being a financial burden to one that contributes to the preservation of heritage and the promotion of Ronda as a destination.
In 2025, Ronda recorded two million visitors for the first time, and overnight stays grew by 17.2%, increasing from 352,880 in 2024 to 412,870 in 2025. This figure has a "direct effect" on hotels, accommodations, restaurants, and businesses, according to Martínez.
The staff of Turismo de Ronda has also grown, increasing from 17 to 37 employees, a rise of twenty professionals. The future challenge is to consolidate this model and improve the visitor experience.
The next major project will be to equip the Puente Nuevo with artistic lighting, in collaboration with the Fundación Endesa. The objective is to continue generating resources, strengthening tourist services, creating activity and employment, and translating tourism growth into opportunities for Ronda and its residents, recognizing the impact of tourism on the local economy.
