The award, part of the AVT's 14th "Truth, Memory, Dignity, and Justice" Prize, was presented in the former Session Hall of the Senate. The event was presided over by the AVT president, Lucía Ruiz, and board member Miguel Ángel Folguera, with the presence of the Senate president, Pedro Rollán. The mayor was accompanied by the First Deputy Mayor, Jesús Vázquez, and the Councilor for Tourism, Ángel Martínez.
Fernández expressed her pride in the monument's installation and emphasized the importance of keeping the memory of terrorism victims alive, especially for younger generations. "It is fundamental that victims of terrorism are not forgotten. Their memory must remain alive so that our society, especially our youth, keeps it present for the future," she stated, thanking the AVT for the recognition. A minute of silence was observed for the victims of terrorism during the ceremony.
At the same event, other Crosses of Dignity were awarded to various personalities, including Colonel Pedro Merino, head of the Civil Guard's Central Operative Unit (UCO); María Guardiola, president of the Junta de Extremadura; José Luis Martínez-Almeida, Mayor of Madrid; and Pedro Sánchez, a Civil Guard officer, among others.
The Monument to Victims of Terrorism in Ronda, created by artist David Sánchez Cruz, was inaugurated in September 2025. It is made of corten steel and symbolizes remembrance, dignity, and the rebirth of life despite pain.
