The Local Government Board gave the green light to the works project, presided over by the mayor, Mari Paz Fernández. The initiative aims to bring the sports facility, used by the Municipal Sports Area, clubs, and the Fernando de los Ríos school, up to standard.
The Councilor for Sports, Nardi Crespo, detailed that the sports center suffers from humidity due to roof and structural problems. The works, expected to begin late this year or early next and last for one year, will comprehensively renovate the facilities.
The project includes repairing roofs and structural issues, renovating the main court floor, restrooms, and changing rooms, as well as electrical and insulation systems. Windows will also be replaced, and the elevator for the three floors will be made operational.
Efforts will be made to relocate user activities with minimal impact during the execution of the works.
