The TSJA has dismissed the legal challenge brought by the RMR against the PMUS, a strategic document approved by the Ronda City Council to improve municipal mobility and integrated into the city's urban planning renewal process. The ruling grants full validity to the plan, including the route for the future alternative road to the New Bridge, projected in the vicinity of the Arroyo de las Culebras.
The RMR based its objections, among other points, on the impact of the alternative road. With this judicial decision, the TSJA supports the effectiveness of the PMUS, which aims to provide an alternative urban itinerary to crossing the monument and the Tajo gorge, seeking to reduce traffic flow on the historic infrastructure. The project meets all necessary requirements, including the environmental assessment.
This judicial body had previously denied the request for precautionary measures regarding the entry into force of Ronda's PMUS, arguing that the document had passed the various controls of the Junta de Andalucía, the competent administration, through sectoral reports from its various departments.
Concurrently, the Ronda City Council is proceeding with the implementation of the PMUS measures. Most recently, efforts have been made to eliminate the level crossing with barriers in the industrial estate, near the cereal cooperative and the DÍA supermarket. This point, considered a mobility "black spot," is planned to be resolved with an underpass for vehicles and pedestrians that will connect to Calle Córdoba and Avenida de Andalucía. The City Council has agreed to this action with Adif, whose execution of the works is scheduled for 2028.
