The August ordinary plenary session at the Ronda City Council has given the green light to the comprehensive renovation project for Tomilla Street, located in the Las Peñas neighborhood. This initiative, responding to a resident demand, will involve an investment of nearly one million euros.
The Urban Planning Councilor, Jesús Vázquez, detailed that the intervention on this obsolete street, affected by recent storms, will include improvements in sanitation, water supply, telecommunications, as well as the replacement of paving, lighting, and enhancement of accessibility.
The Mayor, Mari Paz Fernández, highlighted the importance of this investment, which complements the planned works for Albahaca Street, with a similar investment. "We are going to re-tender the renovation of Albahaca Street. Along with Tomilla Street, these are very difficult roads in terms of access for companies," she stated, adding that "we expect the works to begin in November." These projects, according to the mayor, "respond to our commitment to the residents, to continue transforming our city."
Additionally, the plenary session approved the award of a 2.5 million euro loan to Unicaja. These funds will be allocated to two major projects: the construction of a new swimming pool in El Predicatorio and the creation of a large square and leisure area on the site of the current bus station, once the new station in El Fuerte becomes operational. The completion of the Adif footbridge over Dolores Ibárruri Street is necessary for access to the new station.
The plenary session also advanced the project for a new parking facility on Córdoba Street, on disused Adif land. This parking lot will offer nearly 200 spaces with a daily fee of two euros (from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM), aiming to encourage vehicle rotation rather than permanent use.
The municipal corporation ratified its support for Granada as the European Capital of Culture and Ronda's adhesion to the Andalusian Cork Producers Association.
