The interventions on the provincial road network in the Serranía de Ronda, which suffered more severe damage than initially estimated, will ultimately require an expenditure of 7.5 million euros, an increase of 3.3 million euros from the original forecast.
The president of the Provincial Council, Francisco Salado, reported that emergency interventions on another 16 roads in Axarquía and six in the Valle del Guadalhorce have already been completed, with an investment of 1.8 million euros. In total, the funding for repairing the damage caused by heavy rains amounts to 9.3 million euros.
Salado emphasized the significant effort by the Roads and Works department to restore normality to the provincial network, highlighting that the roads had "never before been so affected" by storms.
The affected roads in the Serranía de Ronda include the MA-7300, MA-7302, MA-7402 (access to Acinipo), MA-8301, MA-8302, MA-8303, MA-8306, MA-8307, MA-8401, MA-8405, MA-8406, MA-8407, and MA-9300, as well as the MA-8300. With the exception of the MA-7402, all roads have had their access restored. The main works involve clearing debris, restoring drainage, and constructing gabion walls to rebuild the road surface.
Major repair operations are underway on the MA-8306, where the slipped platform is being reconstructed and slopes are being stabilized with retaining walls. On the MA-8303, a landslide that caused the road to break in several points is being repaired. Additionally, deep foundation work using micropiles is being carried out for more severe landslides, such as on the access roads to El Colmenar (MA-9300) and Cortes de la Frontera (MA-8401).
