The City Council of Ronda, through its municipal Tourism delegation and the company Turismo de Ronda, has shown its support for the young members of the ‘GalmaxGT’ team from IES ‘Rodríguez Delgado’. These talented students competed with a scale model racing car prototype in the ‘Steam Racing’ competition, achieving first place regionally and third nationally. This success has qualified them for the world finals to be held this autumn in Singapore, where they will compete against teams from many countries.
The councilor for the area, Ángel Martínez, expressed pride in having such talented young individuals who are promoting Ronda's name across Spain and now aim to do so as ambassadors abroad. The international participation involves a significant and initially unforeseen economic outlay.
To cover travel and accommodation expenses, the team is seeking collaboration from companies, institutions, entities, and individuals. A donation account has been opened, and t-shirts featuring the team's image are available for purchase. Additionally, a 7-a-side football tournament will be held on July 31st at the sports facilities of El Fuerte to raise necessary funds.
The students have outlined various ways for financial support to achieve their goal of reaching Singapore, estimating a need of around 40,000-50,000 euros. Sponsors will have their logos displayed on the t-shirts at different levels depending on their contribution. Interested parties can contact the team via their social media profiles under the name galmaxgt or by email at galmaxgt@gmail.com.
