The affected Málaga municipalities will receive 100% of the subsidy in advance and will have a three-year period to carry out the necessary repair and prevention works.
The Government's sub-delegate in Málaga, Javier Salas, announced the allocation of these funds, which cover 77.5% of the local entities eligible for aid. He noted that the final number of resolved aid cases will be higher as pending applications are processed.
Salas highlighted that the Government has allocated a "record amount" of €7 billion nationwide to mitigate the effects of adverse weather phenomena, under Royal Decree-Law 5/2026. Of this total, €2 billion is specifically earmarked for municipalities to repair municipal facilities and construct preventive infrastructure.
Financed actions include the repair of streets, roads, paths, public buildings, retaining walls, as well as channeling works for ravines and stormwater separation. The contracting of these works is expected to stimulate economic activity and job creation in the municipalities.
Among the new measures, in addition to covering 100% of the costs, a full advance of the subsidy has been established to avoid impacting municipal treasury liquidity. The aim is also to promote historical infrastructure and enhance municipal resilience against future storms.
The execution period has been extended to three years, particularly for smaller municipalities, and spending rules are being relaxed so that reconstruction funds do not count towards budget limits, allowing the use of the 2025 surplus.
The beneficiary municipalities include Almáchar, Alcaucín, Alfarnate, Algarrobo, Algatocín, Alhaurín de la Torre, Almargen, Alozaina, Alpandeire, Árchez, Archidona, Arriate, Atajate, Benadalid, Benalauría, Benaoján, Benarrabá, Campillos, Cañete la Real, Cartajima, Casares, Coín, Comares, Cortes de la frontera, Cuevas Bajas, Cuevas del Becerro, Faraján, Frigiliana, Fuente de Piedra, Istán, Jimena de Líbar, Jubrique, Moclinejo, Montejaque, Ojén, Parauta, Periana, Pizarra, Ronda, Sedella, Serrato, Teba, Tolox, Villanueva de Tapia, Viñuela, and the Diputación Provincial de Málaga.
