Mayor Antonio Bonilla has announced the commencement of procedures for the drafting of the hydro-forestry adaptation project for the Rambla del Aljibe, located at the western entrance of Puebla de Vícar. This initiative's primary objective is to reclaim this environmental space for the beautification of the municipality.
The planned investment surpasses 4 million euros and will strengthen the protection of the adjacent urban area, particularly the left bank of the channel. The actions aim to eliminate flood risk, improve water infiltration, and enhance the channel's connectivity and integration into the urban environment.
Specific project actions include the removal of artificial soil deposits, reconfiguration of the channel downstream of the N-340 crossing, revegetation of the channel and slopes, elimination of existing path crossings, and the creation of a riverside promenade. These works are partially funded by a grant from the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory.
The Vícar City Council views this project as another step towards the municipality's modernization and future.
