Last Tuesday, the El Boliche Training Center of the Vícar City Council hosted a talk-forum for participants of the "Vícar Verde" Employment and Training Program. The objective was to inform them about the various professional opportunities in the gardening sector.
The speaker, Darío García Frías, who currently works as a garden and green space maintenance team leader for the Almería City Council, shared his career path. Notably, three years ago, García Frías was a student in a similar program, allowing him to offer a realistic perspective on employment opportunities in the field.
The session covered the importance of gardening in the Poniente region, job search strategies for young professionals, different types of occupations available, and current prospects for gardeners and nursery workers. García Frías highlighted the significance of the professional certificates that "Vícar Verde" students are pursuing, such as AGAO0108 and AGAO0208.
The expert encouraged students to remain confident in their employment possibilities, to apply to multiple companies, and to utilize online job portals. Based on his own experience, he stated, "within three weeks, I already had a job and several professional offers."
A key message from the talk was the importance of approaching both training and job searching with a proactive attitude, assuring students that they possess the necessary professional tools to succeed.
Employment and Training Programs are dual training initiatives that hire individuals for one year, providing them with training (including professional certificates) and work experience in occupations of public utility. Currently, the Vícar City Council manages "Vícar Verde" (gardening) and "Vícar Accessible" (masonry).
The "Vícar Verde" program is funded by the Regional Government of Andalusia and the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, and promoted by the Vícar City Council.
