A hundred members of the Vícar school community gathered in front of the Territorial Delegation of Education to express their discontent with the Andalusian government's refusal to build a new Secondary Education Institute (IES) and its decision to suspend school transport services.
Mayor Antonio Bonilla recalled that four years ago, the Junta de Andalucía was offered a plot of land on Bulevar de La Paz for the construction of the new center. According to Bonilla, the minister's response was that other centers are more overcrowded and that the construction of the institute in Cabañuelas is a medium-term prospect, estimated between 8 and 12 years, a timeframe considered unacceptable.
The municipal Government Team has also defended the maintenance of school transport, recently abolished by Juanma Moreno's Junta. This service is essential for children from Las Cabañuelas who travel to Puebla de Vícar due to the lack of their own Compulsory Secondary Education center in their locality.
Regarding the proposal by the Municipal Group of the PP for the City Council to cover the transport costs, the mayor called it a "mockery", emphasizing that the responsibility lies exclusively with the Junta de Andalucía and that, legally, Vícar could not assume this service.
Bonilla reaffirmed the council's commitment to the citizens of Vícar, assuring that "we will not yield an inch" in defending the municipality's needs and interests, regardless of who governs the Junta de Andalucía or the Spanish Government.
