The Popular Party in La Mojonera has voiced deep concern over a significant increase in vandalism and a perceived lack of security within the municipality, attributing the situation to an insufficient number of Local Police officers.

According to a statement released by the party, various public spaces and municipal buildings in La Mojonera, including the cultural center, the municipal office, the Third Age club in Venta del Viso, the sports and fair pavilions, the adult school, the April 10th park, and several bus shelters, are repeatedly affected by graffiti, damage, and accumulated dirt. This situation, in the view of the popular party, projects an image of “decay and abandonment” in representative areas of the town.
The PP directly links this problem to the scarcity of security resources. Currently, La Mojonera's Local Police has only three operational agents, a number that, they claim, makes it impossible to guarantee effective surveillance during afternoons, nights, and weekends. This shortage significantly reduces the capacity for prevention and response to acts of vandalism.

"It is unacceptable to normalize the constant destruction of public spaces or for residents to lack police presence during extensive periods."

Antonio Tomás · Spokesperson for the Popular Party in La Mojonera
The party recalls that in September of last year, Mayor Hernández García stated that “La Mojonera is a safe town and three police officers are enough.” A declaration that, for the PP, sharply contrasts with the current reality. Furthermore, the statement highlights that as early as 2018, police organizations warned the City Council about the need to progressively renew the workforce due to anticipated retirements and the aging of the force, recommendations that, according to the PP, were not addressed.
The lack of personnel has on several occasions necessitated requesting support from neighboring municipalities like Balanegra, especially during events. The popular party also recalls the disturbances recorded during the patron saint festivities two years ago, when a large brawl occurred, which, in their opinion, evidenced the security shortcomings.
The Popular Party has launched a social media campaign to denounce what they describe as “permanent vandalism and insecurity.” They have presented various motions in the municipal plenary session requesting more Local Police positions and a greater presence of the Guardia Civil, but all of them, they assert, have been rejected by the governing team. The party insists on the urgency of reinforcing both the maintenance of public spaces and security services to ensure coexistence and preserve the municipality's image.
