A group of Portuguese students, from the Escolas Francisco de Holanda educational center in Guimarães, has visited El Ejido as part of the Erasmus project of the IES Murgi.
The Councilor for Tourism, María Herminia Padial, welcomed the 24 students, along with students from the IES Murgi and teachers, in the Plenary Hall of the Town Hall.
Padial emphasized the importance of these programs in fostering cultural, educational, and social exchange among young people from different countries. The Erasmus project focuses on the environment, ecology, and sustainable resource use, areas where El Ejido believes it has a significant contribution, particularly in its agriculture, tourism, and coastal management.
During the reception, the councilor explained the municipality's transformation, driven by agriculture as its main economic engine, and the need to move towards more sustainable production and tourism models. Videos were shown highlighting El Ejido's tourist attractions, including its 27 kilometers of coastline, beaches, the natural environment of Punta Entinas-Sabinar, and the Almerimar resort area.
