The ERACIS+ program of the Vícar City Council, in collaboration with Innova Almería, Engloba, Inserta Andalucía, Humanitarios Sin Fronteras, Codenaf, and Protegidas, has developed a family support and guidance initiative for the pre-enrollment and enrollment periods in Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, and Vocational Training.
This joint effort, carried out on June 24th and 26th, and July 1st, 2nd, 6th, and 13th, has enabled over 120 families in the municipality to formalize their enrollment, ensuring educational access for the town's youth and contributing to a reduction in school dropout rates.
The action responds to needs identified in the Education Roundtable and has had the full involvement of IES Villa de Vícar and IES Puebla de Vícar, whose management teams and teaching staff have provided spaces and necessary materials for assisting families.
Intercultural mediators from the ERACIS+ program have been key in facilitating the understanding of bureaucratic processes and communication with the educational administration, especially for families with language barriers.
Beyond administrative assistance, professionals have offered personalized guidance, explaining educational pathways, curricula, and career prospects of Vocational Training cycles to facilitate informed decision-making.
Individual telephone follow-ups have also been conducted regarding Vocational Training placements, providing necessary information for enrollment in both Vícar centers and those in neighboring municipalities.
