The El Ejido Auditorium hosted a technical conference organized by the company Koppert, where Limonica Ulti-Mite was officially unveiled. This innovation represents a significant advance in biological control, offering an effective solution against pests such as thrips and whiteflies.
During the event, technicians and farmers had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the advantages and results of this evolution of the Limonica product. Its particular effectiveness against Thrips parvispinus, a pest that has had a high incidence in the current agricultural campaign, was highlighted.
Limonica Ulti-Mite is a patented technology by Koppert that integrates an advanced slow-release system with a highly effective predatory mite against Thrips parvispinus, thus consolidating the commitment to sustainability and innovation in the agricultural sector.
“"Biological control has proven its effectiveness, and our province is a benchmark in its application, with more than 80% of Almería's crops using this method, a figure that reaches 99% for bell peppers."
The conference was attended by local authorities, who thanked Koppert for choosing the municipality for the presentation of an initiative of great interest to the sector. The province's leadership in the use and development of these techniques was highlighted, underscoring the commitment to plant health and environmental respect.
Additionally, reference was made to the mandatory protocol for removing crops affected by Thrips parvispinus, established by the Junta de Andalucía, which applies to greenhouse crops such as bell peppers, cucumbers, eggplants, zucchini, melons, and watermelons, emphasizing its mandatory compliance.
