The city of Adra has officially presented its 2026 Fair and Festivals, scheduled from September 5 to 10, honoring its patron saints, the Most Holy Virgen del Mar and Saint Nicholas of Tolentino.

Mayor Manuel Cortés, along with the Councilor for Festivals and Traditions, Elisa Fernández, and the Head Sister of the Brotherhood of Patrons, Milagros Parrilla, have unveiled a program described as “extensive and varied”. The mayor emphasized that the festivities aim to maintain their uniqueness while growing with proposals for all generations, fostering coexistence and family enjoyment.
The Fair will officially commence on Saturday, September 5, at 9:30 PM in the Plaza del Centro de Interpretación de la Pesca. The event will include the mayor's greeting, the proclamation reading by communicator José Sánchez Cazorla, and the lighting of the fairgrounds. Subsequently, performances by the Municipal Dance School Zambra, the Cultural Association Arte Danza, and the Dance School Las Flores de Mi Patio will take place, followed by orchestras Mediterráneo and Pasarela at the Caseta Municipal at 11:00 PM.
The 2026 program includes activities for all ages, such as a children's train, entertainment, workshops, playgrounds, and shows. On Sunday the 6th, the proclamation of the Queen, King, Maids of Honor, and Knights will be held. Monday the 7th will be Children's Day with discounts on attractions. Noise-Free Fair and fixed light sessions (8:00 PM to 10:00 PM) will be implemented on the 7th and 9th for individuals with auditory and visual hypersensitivity, aiming for an accessible fair.
For young people, Adra Gaming stands out, taking place at the Sports Pavilion on September 9 and 10. The program also maintains traditional activities like the Midday Fair, equestrian activities, horse and carriage parades, ribbon races, gymkhanas, motorcycle gatherings, contests, and events for seniors, including the Traditional Afternoon Snack for Our Elders on Wednesday the 9th.
Devotion to the patron saints is central to the religious program. On Tuesday, September 8, the feast day of the Most Holy Virgen del Mar, there will be a Holy Mass at 7:00 PM followed by a procession through the streets of Adra to the Port, a floral offering, and fireworks. On Thursday the 10th, Saint Nicholas of Tolentino's day, after the Mass and procession, the 19th Bull Run ‘San Nicolás de Tolentino’ will take place at noon. The fair will conclude that night with the Caseta Municipal and the traditional Final Fireworks at 12:00 AM.
Mayor Manuel Cortés expressed gratitude for the work of the Festival and Traditions Department, municipal staff, the Brotherhood of Patrons, security forces, emergency services, associations, and collectives. Elisa Fernández highlighted the months of coordination to fill Adra with life, tradition, and joy. Both invited residents and visitors to participate with joy and respect, feeling proud to be from Adra.
