The Vícar Music School is increasingly close to becoming a reality following the awarding of its construction works, announced by the Provincial Council of Almería. Mayor Antonio Bonilla welcomed this progress, calling it "a great day for a project that will make history for Vícar." This ambitious initiative, unprecedented in the province, will offer musical education to over 500 students.
The agreement between the City Council of Vícar and the Provincial Council of Almería addresses a municipal demand for "artistic knowledge and experience." The mayor highlighted the strong historical relationship with the Provincial Council, which is fostering the school with the potential to become a Conservatory. José Antonio García Alcaina, president of the Provincial Council, also emphasized the synergy between both administrations, benefiting Vícar, the Poniente region, and the entire province.
With an investment exceeding 4 million euros, co-financed at 70% by the Provincial Council and 30% by the City Council, the facilities will comprise four floors with a total built area of 2,256.03 m². It will house various training rooms for wind, string, piano, and percussion instruments, along with 25 classrooms. Additionally, it will feature a library-phonotheque, a dressing room, an indoor performance space of 94.50 m², and an outdoor patio-auditorium of 466.73 m².
The Music School will be located next to the IES La Puebla and the Bulevar Ciudad de Vícar, integrating it into the urban plan and connecting it with main access routes. This project is part of a comprehensive municipal plan to establish Vícar as an Educating City, complementing arts, music, sports, and science.
