This gathering, considered one of the most important national events in the canine world, especially for hunting dogs, will take place at the fairgrounds and the emblematic Plaza Ochavada. More than fifty activities are planned, including exhibitions, competitions, and displays of hunting dog packs, solidifying its position as an essential event and a qualifying round for the Spanish Championship in canine morphology competitions organized by the Sociedad Canina Costa del Sol.
The fair's program will feature conferences by experts on various breeds, such as the Ratonero Bodeguero, Spanish Water Dog, Presa Canario, and the Andalusian Podenco. Regarding the latter, Francisco Salado, president of the Diputación de Málaga, emphasized during the presentation that the fair has worked since its inception to promote knowledge and appreciation of this native breed.
“"This event is a true benchmark that will once again become the largest national showcase for hunting dogs and a meeting point for all animal lovers."
High-level exhibitions will include the participation of the canine unit of the National Police of Málaga and, as a novelty, the Civil Guard Canine Unit. There will also be an agility exhibition for children and a scoring event for the Podenco League, organized by the Andalusian Hunting Federation, along with obedience and retrieving demonstrations.
The fair will offer canine education and hunting dog training workshops, interactive activities with dogs, demonstrations of water retrieving and diving, tracking dogs, burrow work with ferrets. Additionally, there will be a popular race with pets, parades, and the buying and selling of hunting dogs. For children, activities like archery and crafts will be available. A major new feature this year will be the granting of the Certificate of Aptitude for the Championship (CAC) for pointing dogs of group seven, a key requirement to achieve the national beauty champion title.
Beyond its sporting and educational aspects, the fair is established as a significant economic driver, with the presence of dozens of specialized exhibitors from the sector. The grand finale of the event will be the traditional presentation of the prestigious ‘Archi de Oro’ award in the Plaza Ochavada, where the best specimens of all breeds will compete.
Manuel Almohalla, mayor of Archidona, highlighted the family-friendly nature of the activities and the extension of educational initiatives to nursing homes and schools during the week before and after the fair, aiming to disseminate values of canine training and obedience.
