The grand final of this edition took place at the Colegio Fundación Unicaja Rosario Moreno, where the top three students from each of the 60 participating centers competed in an intense day. The game format was rapid chess, known as “blitz,” with six rounds where each player had four minutes per game.
Among the ten schools that stood out as winners of this edition are CEIP Rosa de Gálvez from Málaga, CEIP Jacaranda from Benalmádena, CEIP Carmen de Burgos from Málaga, Colegio Salliver from Fuengirola, CEIP Vicente Aleixandre from Málaga, CEIP Acapulco from Fuengirola, Colegio Internacional Torrequebrada from Benalmádena, CEIP Andalucía from Fuengirola, Colegio León XIII from Málaga, and Colegio Fundación Unicaja Juan de la Rosa.
The School Chess League is a key initiative by the Unicaja Foundation, aiming to promote the comprehensive development of children. Through this competition, essential values such as effort, the spirit of self-improvement, and the importance of teamwork are fostered, skills applicable in their daily lives.
This tournament, celebrating its sixth edition, has become a benchmark in Andalucía, being the school chess league with the highest number of participants in the community. Since its inception, it has involved 360 educational centers and over 12,000 students, demonstrating its impact and reach in the region.
