The team-based 3x3 final brought together the top three students from 60 educational centers. The event unfolded over six rounds of rapid chess, known as “blitz,” where each player had four minutes per game until the flag fell.
Among the top ten classified teams in this edition were CEIP Rosa de Gálvez from Málaga, CEIP Jacaranda from Benalmádena, CEIP Carmen de Burgos from Málaga, Colegio Salliver from Fuengirola, CEIP Vicente Aleixandre from Málaga, CEIP Acapulco from Fuengirola, Colegio Internacional Torrequebrada from Benalmádena, CEIP Andalucía from Fuengirola, Colegio León XIII from Málaga, and Colegio Fundación Unicaja Juan de la Rosa.
The School Chess League reflects the Unicaja Foundation's interest in promoting initiatives that foster the comprehensive development of children and allow them to acquire values they can apply in their daily lives, such as effort, self-improvement, and teamwork.
This initiative by the Unicaja Foundation, now in its sixth edition, has become a benchmark in Andalucía, standing as the largest school chess league in the region. Since its inception, it has involved 360 educational centers and over 12,000 students.
In the previous edition, the top ten classified centers included CEIP Revello de Toro from Málaga, CEIP Jacaranda from Benalmádena, CEIP Miguel Hernández from Benalmádena, CEIP Rosa de Gálvez from Málaga, CEIP El Tomillar from Benalmádena, Colegio Salliver from Fuengirola, CEIP Algazara from Alhaurín de la Torre, Colegio El Divino Pastor from Málaga, Colegio El Atabal from Málaga, and CEIP Carmen de Burgos from Málaga.
