The public company Acosol, part of the Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Occidental, this week finalized the renovation works for the drinking water supply network in several streets of the Osunillas neighborhood, in Mijas. This action is key to improving the municipality's hydraulic infrastructure and optimizing the service for local residents.
The project, covering 1400 linear meters of piping across 7 streets, involved replacing the old asbestos cement and high-density polyethylene network with ductile iron pipes of diameters 200 mm, 150 mm, and 100 mm. The new supply network runs along the roadway next to the curbs.
A total of 130 water connections have been made, benefiting 400 residents. Additionally, 35 general network valves and 42 sanitation manholes have been installed. These actions contribute to more efficient water use, reducing leaks and breakdowns.
The streets affected are Puerto El Pino, Puerto de la Media Luna, Puerto de los Pescadores, Puerto de las Grajas, Puerto de los Castillejos, Puerto de la Breña, Puerto Málaga, and Pasaje Puerto Blanco, covering a total area of 1,958 square meters.
The mayor of Mijas, Ana Carmen Mata, highlighted the necessity of this work to ensure an optimal water supply, eliminate deficiencies in the old network, and repair 42 municipal sanitation manholes.
For her part, the CEO of Acosol, Matilde Mancha, stated that the completion of these works represents a significant step in modernizing the supply network in Osunillas, responding to residents' needs and replacing pipes that frequently experienced breakdowns.
Mancha added that this investment joins Acosol's ongoing work in Mijas, and they will continue implementing improvements in hydraulic infrastructure through their investment plan to achieve a more efficient, secure, and sustainable service.
