The initiative, named "Book Swap," took place on Friday, April 24, near the Caja Blanca, located in the Teatinos neighborhood. Dozens of people gathered to participate in this "literary market," where the premise was simple: bring a book and exchange it for another. This dynamic not only allows books to have a second life but also encourages the habit of reading.
The 'The Readers Diaries' club was founded in August 2024 by a young woman, along with other collaborators, following a proposal on the TikTok platform to create a reading community in Málaga. The response to the idea was "immediate and positive," which allowed for the rapid growth of this community.
“"People wanted us to launch this community, which continues to grow today."
In addition to the main exchange, the "Book Swap" included various activities designed to bring reading closer to young people. Among them, "The Exchange Table" stood out, a space where participants could leave reviews and comments about the books they contributed, thus offering guidance to future readers. Raffles were also held, and some gifts were given to attendees.
“"It is a space where participants could leave reviews and comments about the books they contributed, thus allowing the next reader to know in advance the experience of others."
The organizers emphasize that this initiative stems from the need to transform reading, an often individual activity, into a shared experience. With events like this, they seek to create a meeting point where young people can connect and enjoy stories together.
