The historic magazine "Litoral", founded in 1926 by poets of the Generation of '27, is commemorating its centenary with an exhibition in Málaga, the city where it was born, coinciding with Book Day.
The exhibition, located at the María Victoria Atencia Cultural Center (MVA), features a gigantic wave formed by hundreds of magazine covers, a creation by visual artist Aixa Portero. This installation is complemented by projections that narrate the publication's trajectory and will be open to the public until June 26.

"There is no narrative as such; it is the viewer who constructs the experience, and you will see that, in some way, what intertwines there is a bit of the experience of the body, light, the journey, and space."
Among the covers on display are early issues of the magazine, notably the May 1968 edition, which bears the stamp of the Public Order Tribunal, evidencing the censorship of the era. In addition to the wave of covers, the commemoration includes a reinterpretation of the iconic 'pescaíto' that illustrated the first cover, created by over a hundred artists from various disciplines.

"It constitutes the main proof that the Generation of '27 blossomed in Málaga, and not elsewhere. It was the vehicle through which the authors of '27 began to express themselves."
The president of the Provincial Council of Málaga, Francisco Salado, highlighted the importance of "Litoral" as a "vehicle" for the dissemination of the work of the Generation of '27, stating that its founding was "decisive" in bringing its authors together and consolidating Málaga as the birthplace of this literary movement.
