Ryanair has announced a significant 8% increase in its capacity for Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport in the summer 2026 season, introducing 6.6 million seats and four new international connections, reinforcing Málaga's strategic position within its network.

The Irish airline has intensified its commitment to Andalusia's main airport infrastructure, positioning Málaga as the second airport with the highest seat growth in Spain, only surpassed by Alicante. This increase represents nearly half a million additional seats compared to the previous summer season, reaching a total of 91 operational routes.
Among the new developments, Ryanair has introduced four new international connections linking Málaga with Katowice (Poland), Košice and Bratislava (Slovakia), and Pardubice (Czech Republic). The route to Bratislava will operate four times a week, while the other three will have two weekly flights. Additionally, 39 existing destinations, including cities like Rome, Liverpool, Tangier, Bologna, and Copenhagen, will be reinforced with over 50 additional frequencies, totaling 589 weekly flights to and from Málaga.

"Málaga is our second airport in passenger traffic in Spain, after Barcelona. The Costa del Sol is a destination with very strong demand, very consolidated throughout the year."

Alejandra Ruiz · Communications Director and Spokesperson for Ryanair in Spain
Ryanair's expansion in Málaga contrasts with the average growth of 0.5% across the company's national market. The airline will also expand its base at Málaga airport with two new aircraft, increasing its stationed fleet to 20 planes, which entails a 2 billion dollar investment and the creation of over 7,300 direct and indirect local jobs.
Ryanair's goal for 2026 is to reach almost nine million travelers at Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport, representing a 9% increase over the previous year. This growth is supported by Málaga's consolidation as a key tourist hub in southern Europe, a point highlighted by Francisco Salado, president of Turismo Costa del Sol, during the presentation.

Despite the commitment to Málaga, Alejandra Ruiz also took the opportunity to criticize Aena's pricing policy and potential airport fee increases, warning that they could affect Spain's tourism competitiveness. Nevertheless, Ryanair's schedule for the upcoming summer confirms the growing importance of the Costa del Sol within its network.
