The date for the resumption of the direct AVE service between Málaga and Madrid, set for Thursday, April 30, has not achieved political consensus. From the Popular Party, this decision has been interpreted as an electoral move, highlighting its coincidence with the start of the campaign and the May Day demonstration in Málaga.
For its part, the Government, represented by the PSOE, has assured that the Ministry has made a considerable effort to properly restore the service and that the reopening is taking place at the earliest possible date, after several delays by the Railway Infrastructure Administrator (Adif). This situation has exacerbated tensions between the main political parties, especially after the AVE was not operational for Holy Week.
“"Dissolving Parliament and calling elections on May 17 has served to finally make the minister and the Ministry of Public Works get their act together."
A PP-A representative welcomed the reopening announcement, suggesting that the election call has prompted the Ministry of Transport to accelerate work. He also expressed concern about reduced frequencies and speed due to only one track being operational, urging for a complete repair that includes both tracks.
“"The Ministry is pulling out all the stops and is committed to restoring this service as soon as possible."
In response, a PSOE representative in Málaga rejected the criticisms from the Andalusian Government, which linked the announcement to the start of the election campaign. He emphasized the Ministry's commitment and the continuous work of the operators to restore the service as quickly as possible, dismissing the criticisms as lacking common sense.
