The investment will focus on offering more comfortable, accessible, safe, and functional stations, with visible improvements for regular users of the commuter service.
These actions will benefit over 28,500 daily travelers and the 104 commuter services that run each day (98 on weekends).
Works at Plaza Mayor began on July 6th, followed by those at Victoria Kent this Thursday and Málaga Centro Alameda this Friday. Interventions at Torreblanca and Montemar Alto will start progressively throughout July.
At Victoria Kent, with a budget of 271,342.20 euros, accessibility, lighting, and security will be improved in the hall and on the platform. Damaged lighting, broken glass will be replaced, and tactile paving will be installed. The railing will also be renewed and anti-slip bands added to the steps.
In Málaga-Centro Alameda, with an investment of 120,840.52 euros, actions will be taken on accesses, underground halls, and platforms to enhance accessibility, safety, lighting, and general station maintenance. This includes renovation of finishes, LED lighting, improved signage, and anti-slip elements.
The total investment planned for rapid, high-impact interventions in 13 commuter stations in Málaga, Cádiz, and Seville amounts to 3.2 million euros, with an overall plan duration of 18 months.
The 'A Punto' Plan in Andalusia includes works at commuter stations in Málaga (Plaza Mayor, Victoria Kent, Málaga-Centro Alameda, Torreblanca, Montemar Alto), Cádiz (San Fernando-Bahía Sur, Puerto de Santa María, San Fernando Centro, Las Aletas), and Seville (Dos Hermanas, San Bernardo, Utrera, Virgen del Rocío).
Renfe explains that this plan identifies and schedules interventions with low technical complexity and a high return in user perception of service quality, increasing standards of quality, accessibility, and comfort.
Nationally, the project will be developed in 110 commuter and metric gauge stations between 2026 and 2027, with a global investment of 24.8 million euros. Renfe has created a specific visual identity to identify these improvement works.
These improvements coincide with the restoration of double-track circulation in Álora, following Adif's work to repair severe damage caused by February rains. Although one track was restored in April, the second track will be operational from July 17th. The works have been complex due to the terrain and rainfall.
