The City Council of Malaga, through Málaga Procultura, presents a new edition of 'Cine Abierto', its traditional summer cinema series. This year, the program includes 105 films that will be screened for free in 18 public spaces across the city's 11 districts, from July 2 to August 13.
As a new feature, the series will revisit two historic venues with special screenings: the San Miguel Historic Cemetery and the English Cemetery. At the former, 'Sirat' (Oliver Laxe) and 'Ghostlight' (Kelly O’Sullivan and Alex Thompson) will be shown on July 16 and 30, and 'La buena letra' (Celia Rico) on August 13. At the English Cemetery, 'Bird' (Andrea Arnold) will be screened on July 9. All these sessions will start at 10:00 PM.
The Eduardo Ocón Auditorium will host the 'Cine con Firma' (Cinema with a Signature) cycle, featuring films in their original version with Spanish subtitles. The lineup includes 'Anora' (Sean Baker) on July 29, followed by 'Emilia Pérez' (Jacques Audiard), 'Parthenope' (Paolo Sorrentino), and 'Flow' (Gints Zilbalodis) on August 5, 8, and 12, respectively. These screenings will take place at 10:15 PM.
At the Plaza de Tabacalera, in collaboration with the Public Agency for the Management of the Birthplace of Pablo Ruiz Picasso, the Spanish Cinema cycle will feature eight titles. Highlights include 'La infiltrada' (Arantxa Echevarría) on July 3, 'Los destellos' (Pilar Palomero) on July 5, and 'Marco' (Aitor Arregi and Jon Garaño) on July 8, among others. Screenings will begin at 10:15 PM.
Additionally, the Cine Albéniz will offer its 'Family Mornings' at 11:00 AM, with a total of 31 screenings aimed at children and families. The general program will be complemented by sessions on beaches, in parks, and other emblematic locations, bringing the total to 18 venues.
