During the first three months of the current year, the province's main maritime station recorded a total of 72,032 cruise passengers. This figure is more than double the 31,621 cruise passengers registered in the same period last year, representing a 127.8% increase.
In addition to the rise in traveler numbers, the port also saw an increase in the number of ship calls, from 30 in the previous year to 41 in the first quarter of this year, a 36% surge. On average, each vessel carried over 1,750 cruise passengers.
This upward trend is reinforced by the growth in container traffic. At the beginning of the year, nearly 70,000 tons were moved, compared to approximately 15,000 in the previous year. A spokesperson for the Port Authority highlighted that in January and February, tonnage increased by 350% compared to the previous year.

This official from the port body also recalled that the Port Authority has expressed its consolidation as a hub for goods transit to destinations such as the United States, Canada, and distant locations in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. This expansion explains the 51% increase in mobilized tonnage in the previous year.
The economic activity of the port facility has also reached historical figures. Operating revenues from the previous year broke records, reaching 21.9 million euros, and the year's profit doubled to 6.8 million euros.
