The initiative, driven by the Pediatric Oncohematology Unit of the Materno Infantil Hospital and IBIMA BIONAND Platform, along with patient associations, brought together families, healthcare professionals, and citizens for a route of approximately five kilometers.
The event, which repeats the success of its first edition, started near La Noria and concluded at La Térmica, traversing parts of the Málaga capital's promenade. Representatives from the Regional University Hospital of Málaga, IBIMA, the University of Málaga, the Provincial Council, and the Málaga City Council, as well as collaborating entities, were present.
Throughout the day, participants combined the sporting and solidarity aspects of the walk with recreational and social activities, fostering awareness and support for children with cancer and their families.
The raised funds of 9,000 euros will be allocated to childhood cancer research projects developed within IBIMA, aiming to advance new treatments, enhance understanding of the disease, and improve the quality of life for pediatric patients.
The organization highlighted the increase in participation compared to the previous year and the importance of such initiatives in bringing biomedical research closer to society and strengthening the support network for childhood cancer.
