This summer, travelers can enjoy a direct connection between Málaga and Barcelona, with a stop in Zaragoza, without needing to change trains. The service will be available from Fridays to Mondays, between July 20 and September 6, with a few specific exceptions in July and August.
The first train will depart from Barcelona at 07:35h, arriving in Málaga in approximately seven hours. In the opposite direction, departure from Málaga will be at 16:50h. This service responds to the increased demand towards the Costa del Sol during the summer season. Tickets are already on sale through Ouigo's website and app.
The complete journey will include stops in Zaragoza, Madrid, and Córdoba. The train departing from Barcelona-Sants at 07:35h will arrive in Málaga at 14:31h, after passing through Zaragoza (09:07h), Madrid (11:05h), and Córdoba (13:25h). The return service will depart from Málaga at 16:50h, arriving in Barcelona at 23:56h, with intermediate stops in Córdoba (17:44h), Madrid (19:42h), and Zaragoza (21:47h).
Ouigo is not the only company offering this direct route; Renfe already provides similar year-round services between Málaga and Barcelona.
Since its arrival in Spain in 2021, Ouigo has invested over 700 million euros and employs 500 permanent staff, operating with 16 trains to 15 destinations. A report by consultancy Afi indicates that Ouigo's entry has led to a 40% reduction in the average high-speed ticket price, making it more accessible. 85% of Ouigo passengers state they travel more since high-speed rail opened to competition.
The company highlights its high-capacity trains, XL seats which are 30% larger, and is the only operator in Spain that compensates customers for delays starting from 30 minutes.
