This statistic positions Málaga as the second Andalusian province with the highest proportion of births to foreign parents, only surpassed by Almería, which reached 43.8%. This trend highlights the growing influence of the foreign population on the region's demographic growth.

Between July and September of last year, a total of 2,941 births were recorded in the province. Of these, 1,886 babies had both Spanish parents (64%), while in 563 cases, both parents were foreign (19%). In 390 births, one parent was foreign (13%), with the majority being foreign mothers (215 cases) compared to foreign fathers (175 cases).

Málaga's significance in this context is underscored by its concentration of almost 30% of all children born in Andalusia with both foreign parents. Furthermore, the trend shows a notable increase, rising from 29% in the same period of 2024 to 32% in 2025, a three-percentage-point increase.

IECA's statistics also reveal other demographic insights, such as over half of the couples (55%) not being married at the time of birth. In absolute numbers, there were 1,617 single mothers compared to 1,275 marriages. Regarding overall demographics, deaths exceeded births by 256, with 3,197 fatalities against 2,941 births. There were 1,415 marriages, of which 24.2% (342) involved at least one foreign spouse.
