The 2026 MotoGP championship is heating up after the Czech Republic Grand Prix, where Marc Marquez achieved his second consecutive win.
The 2026 MotoGP season is intensifying. Marc Marquez secured his second consecutive victory, a result that coincided with Marco Bezzecchi, the championship leader, failing to score any points. This allows his rivals to dangerously close the gap in the standings.
The weekend in Brno proved challenging for the Italian rider. He arrived at the Czech circuit with 180 points but did not manage to add any. He crashed out on Saturday during the Sprint race and was unable to participate on Sunday due to a penalty for an earlier incident.
This scoreless weekend for the leader benefited Jorge Martín. Despite serving a double long lap penalty, he managed to score twelve points, placing him just eight points behind Bezzecchi.
Marc Márquez emerged as the weekend's biggest gainer. The Ducati rider finished third in the Sprint and first in the main race, bringing him within 40 points of the lead. After recovering from injuries, he has made a significant comeback in recent races.
Other riders also benefited from the situation. Fabio Di Giannantonio, despite a difficult weekend, is now 23 points behind third place. Ai Ogura is 46 points adrift, and Pedro Acosta, in sixth, is 48 points behind.
The overall standings for the 2026 MotoGP World Championship after the Czech Republic Grand Prix are as follows:
