The supermarket chain Mercadona consolidated its activity in Andalusia during 2025, with an investment of 124.8 million euros and purchases from community suppliers exceeding 4,270 million euros.

Throughout 2025, Mercadona strengthened its economic and commercial impact in Andalusia, establishing relationships with over 2,000 Andalusian suppliers. These collaborations covered products, services, and other non-commercial areas, in line with its model of stable and long-term engagement with the sector.
The agri-food sector was a fundamental pillar in the company's acquisitions. 82.44 million kilograms of citrus fruits (oranges, mandarins, lemons, and grapefruits) were purchased from farmers in Almería, Cádiz, Córdoba, Huelva, Málaga, and Sevilla. This was complemented by 70 million kilograms of olive oil, 65 million kilograms of chicken, 44.3 million kilograms of watermelon, over 32 million kilograms of tomatoes, and 28 million kilograms of peppers, all sourced from Andalusian greenhouses.
Mercadona's total investment in Andalusia amounted to 124.8 million euros. Of this figure, approximately 80 million were allocated to improving its supermarket network and expanding the Listo para Comer (Ready to Eat) section. Another 42.9 million euros were invested in optimizing the three logistics blocks located in Antequera, Huévar del Aljarafe, and Guadix. Additionally, 1.2 million euros were invested in its exclusive online sales platform in Sevilla, known as La Colmena.
Commercially, the company opened seven new supermarkets in Andalusia during 2025, distributed across the provinces of Almería, Cádiz, Granada, and Málaga. Despite these openings, nine stores that no longer met the company's current standards were closed. A store in the capital of Málaga also underwent renovation.
By the end of 2025, Mercadona operated 346 supermarkets in Andalusia, with 288 already following the efficient store model. A total of 284 establishments featured the Listo para Comer section, and 243 stores had electric vehicle charging points. The workforce in the community was strengthened with the creation of 1,000 new jobs, bringing the total to over 21,950 employees in Andalusia. The company highlighted labor improvements such as an additional week of vacation, salary updates according to the CPI, and performance-based bonuses.
In terms of social responsibility, Mercadona donated over 4,960 tons of edible food in Andalusia to the 220 social entities it collaborates with, an amount equivalent to more than 82,700 shopping carts.
