The building, which housed Le Grand Café and the Hotel Ibis, was affected by a fire that started around 1:26 AM on Monday. The blaze spread to the hotel, necessitating the precautionary evacuation of over a hundred guests, with no personal injuries reported.
The safety measure implemented by the property involves the interruption of pedestrian passage on the section of Pasillo de Guimbarda located between the Puente de la Aurora and the Puente de la Trinidad. Vehicle traffic on Calle Cerrojo remains open.
Firefighters are continuing cooling and prevention efforts inside the building, deploying a fire engine, an aerial ladder, and a water tender. The Málaga City Council has stated that the pedestrian restrictions are for safety reasons while operations continue at the affected building.
The security operation remains active to secure the area and prevent unauthorized access, given the condition of the property after the incident.
