Organized by the Málaga collective AndThe, this initiative seeks to bring together at least 500 people to perform the characteristic 'chiquito' in unison. The event, suitable for all ages, invites participants to join in a
chiquito freestyle
style, allowing creative freedom in costumes and movements reminiscent of the comedian. The march is scheduled to start from the old Casa de Socorro in Trinidad at 7:30 PM, concluding in the Plaza de la Constitución.
Héctor Márquez, spokesperson for the initiative, highlighted the
absurd humor
nature of the proposal, which AndThe has been developing since 2009. The goal is to create
the largest march of 'chiquitos' in history
and surpass the current record for people dancing the Macarena in the United Kingdom. Márquez, laughing, stated that since no similar precedent exists,
“"if three people show up, it's already a record"
but the intention is to achieve massive participation.
Beyond the playful aspect, the 'cowardly march' has a cultural background, seeking to honor Chiquito de la Calzada as a benchmark of surreal and absurd humor. Márquez emphasizes that humor, especially absurd humor, has historically been a catalyst in times of social crisis. The call is inclusive, regardless of age, gender, or nationality, and interested parties must register via a form to receive a
coward's card
June 20, the date of the event, coincides with Yellow Day, considered the happiest day of the year, adding special symbolism to this day of laughter and tribute in Málaga.
